The Tauck Difference - “A Century of Travel Excellence"

Tauck, now celebrating their 100th year, was founded in 1925 and remains a private company focusing on guided tours, small ship tours and river cruises. They also have specialized itineraries for families called their ‘Bridges’ touring.

They’re based in Wilton, Connecticut and they were founded 100 years ago by Arthur Tauck and remain a family business with Arthur Tauck Jr as their Chairman.

They create fabulous itineraries in over 70 countries on all 7 continents.  Part of their brilliance is their amazing guides.

They’ve been a Virtuoso partner since 1995, and they have 1857 reviews with an average recommended rating of 98%.  They also happen to be a preferred partner with my host agency.

Tauck is the favorite of many of my clients who are repeat travelers with Tauck based on their quality itineraries and overall experiences. They are largely inclusive, including any flights that are required on a regional basis while traveling plus more meals and tours than many other tour operators generally provide. Their accommodation tends to be mostly 5-star quality level to offer more luxury to their guests. They also always include airport arrival and departure transfers whether you book your air through them or not.

Their small ship cruising partners include mostly the very luxurious, small ship operator, Ponant, a number of their itineraries include Windstar cruise vessels and then a few itineraries include Silversea.  All of these ‘partner’ itineraries with their small ship cruising offer excellent quality ships, great service and the added bonus of being a part of a smaller group with Tauck’s quality guides.

They currently have 9 of their own Tauck branded river cruise ships on the European rivers with 2 more on the way in 2026 for the Rhone and Seine Rivers of France. These river ships range from a low of 84 passengers to the highest being only 130 passengers – all with very high guest to staff ratios enabling excellent customer service and maximized space on board for each guest’s comfort.

I must also mention that Tauck’s river cruises are completely inclusive including unlimited regional wine, beer, and premium spirits, all gratuities and all excursions along with airport transfers as noted above.

Many of their river cruise ships dedicate an entire deck to their Category 7 suites that have a very spacious 300 square feet of living space for those interested in their top category. They also have entry level staterooms, i.e. Category 1, starting at 150 square feet and many different sizes to suit all in between these 2 categories. The other very important note for me to mention is that their Category 1 staterooms enable singles to occupy them at no additional cost, thereby potentially saving 50% on every single occupancy departure with no added supplement!

They have varying sizes of groups on their land tours from their “Classic” size of 40 people to their “Small” group size of 24 and then their “Smaller” group is just 15 people. Of course, the price is lower for the larger size but for those wanting a more intimate group, the option is there, and these do tend to sell out much more quickly.

A few themed tours/cruises that they have available include various African safaris, their Ken Burns American Journeys, their extensive selection of National Parks tours, their New England Fall Foliage tours, and their various train journeys.

As mentioned previously, they also have their “Bridges” Family tours that include both land and river cruise options that enable families with children of all ages to join and enjoy traveling together. They tend to focus their travel dates on those during the summer months and certain holiday break times so that children are more able to join without missing school.

Some new itineraries include travel to such popular places as Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Colombia, South Africa, Switzerland, England, Italy, France, Scotland, The Arctic and quite a number of new domestic itineraries as well right here in North America.

Their current promotion that’s available from now until the end of February is called “Take Off with Tauck” and features tremendous savings on air including economy, premium economy and business class on select European land and river cruise itineraries and even a family journey to Italy. These tours must be booked by February 28th, 2025.

If you’re interested in experiencing one of the many wonderful Tauck options either by river cruise, small ship ocean cruise, land tour or tours with your family, please don’t hesitate to connect with me and I’d be happy to get you on your way!
